Johnson’s Literary Depot

Johnson’s Literary Depot is an independent bookstore on Main Street in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee, tucked in the heart of the Appalachian Highlands. We opened with a simple belief, a bookstore should be a gathering place, a depot of people, ideas, and community. Between author events, book clubs, and sessions in the stacks (a monthly music night featuring local artists), we’ve watched our shop become a spot where neighbors and travelers alike slow down and connect. Our resident shop dogs, Winnie & Daisy are local celebrities often the first ones to greet customers when they come in the door. We’re also proud of our Kids Read for Free program, which puts children’s books into the hands of kids through age 12, because a love of reading and learning starts early and should follow the child’s lead. Whether you leave with a new book, a wagging welcome from Winnie & Daisy, a letter from a pen pal, or just a good conversation, we hope you’ll always feel at home here.
