Rooted Books & Gifts

Our little bookshop, Rooted Books & Gifts, is located in downtown Grand Island, Nebraska. Grand Island is in central Nebraska, just off Interstate 80. Our community has about 50,000 people; what makes us unique, though, is that we are a rural community with greater per capita diversity than our state's urban centers (Omaha and Lincoln). According to our largest school district's most recent annual report, the student body represents 57 countries. There are 42 different languages spoken among our students! Rooted Books & Gifts opened in August of 2024 to be a haven for those pushed to the margins of society, a place where curiosity is welcomed, and a space that encourages the community building necessary for people to set deep roots in Grand Island. We prioritize books and gifts from historically marginalized voices and even offer space for local and young entrepreneurs to sell their products! People come to our shop to learn, to rest, to recharge, and to meet new people. The Sunday Letter Project fits right in with our store's mission and programming.
